Is a Toyota Certified Warranty Worth It?

Man Signing Paperwork

When purchasing a certified pre-owned Toyota from DCH Wappingers Falls Toyota, you want to buy a great, reliable vehicle to go in your garage. You may want a fuel-efficient sedan that’s great for daily commutes, weekly errands, and weekend getaways. Or maybe a family-friendly SUV that takes care of shopping, cargo hauling, and cross-country family vacations. For ruggedness at the jobsite, a Toyota pickup can be a fantastic choice when you need powerful towing or cargo-hauling capabilities.

Find out more about whether an extended warranty is worth it on a Toyota.

Start With a 12-month/12,000-Mile Limited Comprehensive Warranty

A certified pre-owned Toyota starts with a factory-trained tune-up that brings a later-model vehicle up to near-factory specs. Then, we cover it with a 12-month, 12,000-mile limited comprehensive warranty. That warranty covers any repair or replacement of components that fall under routine use due to a defect in materials or craftsmanship. There’s also a $0 Deductible on any repair or replacement of a covered component.

You also get one year of roadside assistance and free towing to the nearest Toyota dealership. You’ll also get a trip interruption reimbursement if you break down more than 150 miles from home. On top of that, you also get a rental replacement if your car is in the shop during the first year of your certified pre-owned purchase.

There are exceptions to this warranty:

  • Batteries
  • Body panels
  • Brake pads and shoes
  • Bumpers
  • Carpet
  • Chrome
  • Upholstery
  • Glass
  • Hoses
  • Bulbs
  • Paint
  • Tires
  • Wiper blades

These parts expect to wear or break down over time, so they are not covered.

What Does the Toyota 100,000-Mile Warranty Cover?

The 7-year, 100,000-mile warranty for Toyota models covers the engine, transmission components, and all internally lubricated parts. You’ll also get a rental vehicle while your vehicle is in for repairs. You’ll also get the same breakdown assistance in the 12-month, 12,000-mile warranty in case something happens in or around Wappinger or Poughkeepsie.

Is an Extended Warranty Worth It on a Toyota?

Common repairs that may need to happen during car ownership can total hundreds or even thousands of dollars, so you should consider an extended warranty for a certified pre-owned vehicle.

Look at the following repair costs for Toyota vehicles:

  • Toyota Camry oxygen sensor replacement: $322 to $441
  • Toyota Camry throttle position sensor replacement: $193 to $225
  • Toyota Tacoma suspension ball joint replacement: $228 to $444
  • Toyota Tundra exhaust manifold assessment: $917 to $1,113

Toyota extended warranties have three levels, all of which you must pay for. Look at the prices here for pre-owned vehicles:

  • Platinum: 5 years/60,000 miles
  • Gold: 5 years/60,000 miles
  • Powertrain: 2 years/24,000 miles

Depending on the warranty you choose, it can cost anywhere from $1,500 to $2,000. Depending on the repairs, it can save you money after two or three repairs.

Is It Worth Getting a Car Warranty From a Dealership?

Yes! Especially considering what repairs you may face in the future. Plus, it keeps your vehicle in top shape so it lasts longer, making it a long time before you need to buy another car by extending the life of your current vehicle. You need to determine whether a Toyota Certified Warranty is worth it or not. It comes down to your budget, lifestyle, and how much you plan on driving near Fishkill or East Fishkill.
